Air - The most convenient airports for people flying to the Rio Grande Valley (including Reynosa, Rio Bravo and Matamoros) are McAllen-Miller International Airport (MFE) in McAllen and Valley International airport in Harlingen (HRL). If you will be visiting a city in the interior of Mexico, there are international airports in Monterrey, Saltillo and Tampico, though some groups have found it more economical to fly to McAllen, Harlingen or Laredo and drive from there.

Rental Vehicles – For groups that will rent vans upon arriving to McAllen, Avis (956 687 9597, www.avis.com) rents 12 passenger vans and Budget (956 687 5394, www.budget.com) rents 15 passenger vans. Both of these companies have offices at the airport. It’s advisable to make your reservation well in advance of your trip, and to notify the agency that you’ll be bringing the cars to Mexico (they will require you to purchase their Mexican auto insurance)

Private vehicles -  If you are traveling to Mexico in vehicles that you own, be sure to purchase Mexican auto insurance, since most US insurance plans do not cover you if you drive to Mexico. You can also buy policies online at www.sanbornsinsurance.com
