The Presbyterian Church of Mexico has a long tradition and a strong and growing membership – in fact, the percentage of Mexicans that are Presbyterian is higher than the percentage of Americans that are Presbyterian. Reynosa is a large industrial center of over 1,000,00 people, that continues to receive new residents from all over Mexico, including many from the heavily Presbyterian south of Mexico. There are several small, dedicated churches in Reynosa, but because of their location in difficult to reach parts of the city, and because of their limited financial resources, they have been unable to effectively reach out to existing Presbyterians and to those without a church home.

In response to this need, Puentes de Cristo is working with the Presbytery of Tamaulipas on Project Paul and Silas, a project with the goal of starting a new church development in a high-visibility neighborhood. The mission will be led by dynamic missionary pastor seeking to reach out to the large population of Presbyterians in Reynosa looking for a place to worship, as well as to those who do not have a church home or who have not heard the good news of Jesus Christ.
